The “Common Path – Student Mentoring” Programme
NEW PLACE, NEW DECISIONS, LOTS OF QUESTIONS
YOUR FIRST YEAR IS A JOURNEY INTO THE UNKNOWN – WE’LL HELP YOU FIND YOUR WAY!
The “Common Path – Student Mentoring” Programme has been created to help first-year students settle in at the University of Warsaw.
If you are starting your studies in October, you can count on the support of an experienced student who will help you navigate university life. You will learn how to handle various matters at the Psychological Support Centre (CPP), the Office for Persons with Disabilities (BON), the International Relations Office (BWZ), the Careers Office (BK), and the Student Welfare and Support Office (BPM), 😊 as well as how to successfully get through your first exam session.
Mentors from higher years support students who are just beginning their studies in a given field of studies – the mentees.
Mentors share their experience, show how to find your way around the university environment, and where to seek support. As a result, mentees adapt more quickly to their new reality. The Programme also encourages building relationships and discovering student life – both inside and outside the lecture hall.
For first-year students (mentees), the Programme offers:
- an easier start to university life,
- quicker understanding of how the University functions, including the USOS system and everyday student life,
- support in organising studies and making initial decisions,
- a sense of security and greater confidence,
- new connections – and even friendships.
For mentors, i.e., students in higher years, the Programme is an opportunity to:
- complete a course and gain ECTS credits,
- take part in dedicated training sessions and develop communication, organisational and social skills,
- gain experience as a mentor that will be valuable both academically and professionally,
- share their experience and help co-create an inclusive and supportive University.
The “Common Path – Student Mentoring” Programme is not only about learning and mentoring. It is an opportunity to feel part of the University of Warsaw, build new relationships, and contribute to an engaged academic community.
The programme will launch in the winter semester of the 2026/27 academic year.
Follow the website and communication channels for your field of studies to stay up to date with recruitment and participation rules – more details coming soon.
